The Delta Times

San Jose Alumnae Chapter of Delta Delta Delta
January, 2006

President’s Letter

A little madness in the Spring is wholesome even for the King.

- Emily Dickenson

For the first part of 2006, we have a fun mix of old and new meetings. For January, it’s our annual book exchange.

February’s meeting marks the return of an old favorite, our White Elephant Sale. Please note that the February meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 7 which is the FIRST Tuesday in February.  It was moved up so that Deltas can spend Valentines day with their spouses or significant others.  (This is consistent with the calendar on the website, but the last newsletter had the February meeting listed as 2/14/06.)

In March, we will elect our new slate of officers for 2006-2007, and in April the new officers will be installed, after the annual Pansy Salad Supper.

In case you are looking for a reason to eat out, we are reviewing local restaurants at the May meeting. Finally, for our last meeting in June, we will be going to the Chicken Coop for dinner.

-- See you soon!

DDD,
Kendra

Help plan our future . . . .

The year is scarcely half over, and it is already time to think about the Nominating Committee for our 2006-2007 year. The following offices are up for nomination: President, 1st VP (Programming), Recording Secretary, and Corresponding Secretary. We will select NomCom members at the January meeting, and the slate will be presented via email the week before the February meeting. If you are interested in being considered for a particular position, or continuing in your current office, please let NomCom committee members know.

Thanks so much to all of the group members who sold wreaths this year. We should be able to give a proceeds update at the January meeting.

Treasurer’s Report

It's grand to report we have 41 paid members and 6 Deltas who paid for the newsletter only.   We also received $312.00 in donations from members in addition to their dues.

It's exciting to belong to a group of such remarkable women.  Thank you for your loyalty and dedication.  And -- a HUGE thank you for paying your dues on time so that I could get the report to National on time!!!

Your Silicon Valley Sister,

Jane Ward (Treasurer)

Thanks to everyone who made their holiday purchases through our Amazon link. For those of you who got Amazon gift cards this year, remember to cash them in through our website. Our referral relationship with Amazon continues to bring money back to our chapter budget.
