A Golden Celebration
Fifty Years of Friendship
for San Jose, Calif., Alumnae Chapter
Start with a group of 14 women - young, old and in-between. To this group,
add a potpourri of backgrounds stemming from Maine to California, with a bit of the South
and the Midwest thrown in. Infuse them all with the spirit, energy and
love engendered by a common experience with college life and living in the tradition of
Tri Delta, and you have an unbeatable combination of alumnae with the necessary attributes
to found a strong organization and have the blessed vision to see this organization grow
and flourish through the years. It was such a group who founded the San Jose, Calif.,
Alumnae Chapter 50 years ago, and these 14 women were honored at the chapter's Golden
Celebration last May 3.
Thirty-nine Tri Deltas gathered in the garden at the home of Jane Harlan
Ward, Texas Christian. Guests enjoyed an assortment of delicious edibles and A
Chorus Line entertainment performed by committee members. Each guest
took home a pansy vase hand-painted by Arlene Wayt Cook, Oregon, and a meaningful
poem written by Kathy Weatherholt, California/Davis. On this glorious day, the
sun was shining; the flowers were blooming; the smiles were
glowing; and a marvelous time was had by all. "I perceived a sense of how much your
members, young and old alike, enjoyed being together. They have a sincere interest and
concern for each other. They are supportive of each other and have fun together. And,
that's what it is all about: sisterhood," remarked Nancy Blank, Cincinnati,
Northern California/Nevada alumnae district officer.
